Romantic Scarf by KathiKaffee

KathiKaffee sent me some pictures of the wonderful scarf she made from one of my yarns. If you are interested in pictures of the yarn, have a look at my older blogpost. I think I have to spin a twin of this yarn for myself...

The scarf was a Christmas present for a friend of hers and I am sure she will love the scarf - it's so beautiful, I think. Kathi had some kind of knitting marathon before Christmas. We know it all - you want to knit presents for friends and family and time runs so quickly.

Charade Socks

There was so much to do in the last weeks and I had no time for blogging. Now Christmas is near and I try to relax a little bit. I want to blog about all my knitting projects and yarns I finished the last weeks. So here is the first.

I told you a lot about the Charade socks I started to knit for my mother. It was a little stressful and complicated but I think now I have the right heel pattern for me. I'm glad that my mother loves her new socks. Now my father wants handknitted socks, too...

WIP Wednesday: Sock Trouble

Knitting socks is so exhausting! You have to work with tiny needles and tiny yarn. It takes sooo much time and after finishing the first sock you have to knit another.

I always tried to become friends with this work - and I think I'm on my way now. I tried a new heel, called "Herzchenferse" in German - I don't know the English word. This heel ist easy to knit and to remember and first time in my knitting career I love to knit socks :-)
Hopefully my mum will get the promised socks in a few weeks.

Blueberry Cowl

Some weeks ago I knitted this cowl as a present for my cousin.
The yarn was carded by TrashQueen and spun by me. Its name is Blueberry Muffin because of the great colours. It is my first coiled art yarn and I was very interested in knitting it.
I love the cowl's structure and how the coils turned out. You don't need any pattern when you knit with coiled art yarns and want to have a cute knitwear.

Sweet Summer Greetings

Warum bin ich nicht die Spindel,
könnte immer bei ihr stehn
und in einem süßem Schwindel
würde ihre Hand mich drehn?
Warum bin ich nicht der Rocken,
den sie feuchtet mit dem Mund?
Wäre nie verdorrt und trocken,
wäre glücklich und gesund.

Why am I not the spindle
could always stand by her side
and in a sweet vertigo,
her hand would twist me?
Why am I not the distaff
she moistens with her mouth?
Would never be sear and dry,
would be happy and healthy.

WIP Wednesday: I started the big project!

Today I want to show you the first pictures of my freshly started Colour Spectrum Scarf.
I wasn't sure about the pattern. Actually I wanted a drop stitch scarf but now I decided to knit it plain and simple. I love love love the little tea cups of the Mad Hatter Art Yarn and am very curious about the result.

Stockholm Berry

Finally I finished the Stockholm Scarf I started last month. I had to change the pattern a little and I knitted only one piece and sewed it together. I hadn't enough yarn for the whole pattern but I am totally happy with my scarf.
The stitch pattern was so much fun to knit. It is easy but brilliant and goes with my handspun yarn perfectly.

WIP Wednesday: From Stockholm to Milky Way

I started to knit the Stockholm scarf from my own handdyed and handspun art yarn. The scarf is super beautiful and after some little problems with the pattern, it's really easy to knit.
If I were not so tired every evening, I could finish it much sooner...

This weekend I spun two art yarns. First is English Tea Rose - a handdyed yarn. It is super soft and gentle and I think a perfect Mother's Day present.

The second one is in the shop since today: Milky Way. This yarn is midnight blue with tiny beads and white ribbons and the next one for my "space tourist" shop section. I planed to spin more yarns for this theme.

So - have a look at my Etsy shop :-)

WIP Wednesday: I'm on Fire

This week is the last week of semester break, I have to go back to university on Monday. The weather is so wonderful the last two weeks so I try to enjoy my last days of freetime between two seminar papers.

Today I spun a new yarn for my big colour spectrum project. It is spun from merino and alpaca and my second coiled yarn
It is the third yarn for the scarf and I think I can start to knit the next days.

Weather was perfect for spinning on my balcony and listening to an audio book. I love sitting there in the afternoon sun, watching the sunset. The yarn fits perfect on this setting and was inspired by a song of Train - She's on Fire.

Oh, I can see my own reflection in the screen - you too? :-)

Another Pair of Yoga Socks

I always knit socks or yoga socks as presents or barter objects. Today I finally managed to finish a pair for myself.
I wanted to have socks for my regular yoga practise. They keep my feet warm and cosy but wearing them feels like beeing barefoot. You can't slip on the pad because toes and heels are naked. Have a look on Ravelry!
(Yoga socks are perfect for decreasing the stash.)

Rough Sea Cowl

My mother is an enthusiastic knitter - especially her knitted dresses are great! Sadly they don't suit me.
My Mum is a little shy and unsure with internet things. It made a lot of work to persuade her for a Ravelry registration - but here she is!

I gave her one of my favourite art yarns for Christmas: Rough Sea. She knitted a wonderful cowl / scarf / whatever out of it and you can admire it on Ravelry now.
Maybe you like to give her some hears and comments :-)

(Did you discover her wooden earrings? They are selfmade, too!)

Shelly Coat Scarf

Last week my friend Antonia bought one of my favourite art yarns: Shelly Coat. She started knitting a super soft scarf and yesterday send me some photos of her wonderful work.
Sadly you can't see the shells in this photo but it's nice for a general impression.

WIP Wednesday: Still Blue Dust

It's the same like always: I love knitted socks but I'm such a slow sock knitter...
I started my new Blue Dust three (3!!) weeks ago and just finished the first sock. This is so embarassing :-D I don't know why sock knitting is so exhausting and less exciting for me.
But I'll finish this pair and will practise sock knitting in future! They are always so beautiful and nice to wear, this has to be fun.

WIP Wednesday: Blue Dust

Here is my newest try to knit socks for me. I've very small feet and so my latest socks were a little to big for me. I had to give them to my (ex) boyfriend.
Now I try to knit with only 54 stitches. The pattern is a really easy one, just k4 p2.

Nanny is back!

So you remember my Nanny Ogg art yarn?
Mary bought it some months ago and today I received an email from her: She knitted a wonderful scarf and - if you like it as much as I do - you can buy it at her Etsy shop.
Come on, discworld fans! :-)

Find the scarf here on Etsy.

A Scarf for Stars

Two months ago I won this wonderful art yarn made by LadyRamone. It's name is "Sea of Stars" and it's spun from merino wool in different shades of blue. You can find a lot of stars in varous sizes, organza ribbon, beads and a lot of sparkling fibre in it.
I knitted a beautiful scarf of it and hope to find someone who is interested in a swap.

Red Witch Drop Stitch

After finishing all my knitting projects I had to do for other people, finally there is some time to knit for myself. I have a lot of ideas and the first was this drop stitch scarf from one of my art yarns. I love the combination of black and red and so this scarf is perfect for me.
Have a look at Ravelry for more pictures.

Thank you, TQ

I had a lot of help in the last months. My good friend TrashQueen from Weird & Twisted designed my FibrePiratess header for my blog and also the banner for the shop and Facebook. We had a nice talk via Skype while she drawed. Special thank you and *cuddle*
I spend my weekend with TQ and Weird and so I had to finish my present for TQ yesterday: Yoga socks. They are very easy to knit but because we excercise yoga for some time I liked this idea.

Socks #2

My second pair of socks and this are mine :)
I knitted them without any ornament because the yarn is patterned itself and I had to practise the steps of sock knitting.
Mostly knitted while listening to Harry Potter audiobooks and finished after watching part three on tv.
More pictures on Ravelry!
